At its Gold Street entrance, a recycled concrete gathering space, shaded seating, vibrant pots, decorative plantings, and a flexible play lawn welcome visitors to the green. A secondary band of landscape features a bioswale and stormwater management area, which then radiates outward into a low-mow turf zone and a pollinator-friendly wildflower meadow.

Project Description

Etting Street Green is located at the 2100 block of Etting Street in Druid Heights. In partnership with EnviroCollab Landscape Architects, we designed a pedestrian-friendly park in the former ROW. Our endeavors included, blocking the street from car traffic, removing broken pavement and curbs, urban soil restoration within the surrounding vacant lots, and planting the field with a mix of native trees, shrubs, and meadows for a quiet urban respite. The contractor for construction was SBC Outdoor Services. Post construction, we worked with Paniaguas to re-pave the street and create a safe place for children to bike and improve the park’s accessibility. Lastly, Graham Projects painted the street and road barriers with community volunteers – featuring a colorful mural. Design budget was $39k (including subconsultants). Construction budget was $200k.
